Cheran in BharathirajaÂs ÂAppan AathaÂ

Bharathiraja, who has been keeping a low profile after ÂBommalattamÂ, is getting ready for his next. If sources are to be believed, the ace filmmakerÂs new project will be based on family values that too set in his favourite background- a village.
It is said Cheran will play the protagonist in the film that is tentatively titled ÂAppan AathaÂ. ÂAudience would get to see a new dimension of Cheran in this movie. Bharathiraja is poised to do itÂ, they say.
Elaborating more, sources say a new face would be the heroine of the project, while two veterans of Tamil cinema would play the father and mother of Cheran. ÂIn short, it is a village-based family subject which would have all quintessential elements of a Bharathiraja film, they maintain.
Movies set in villages stressing family values are not new for both Bharathiraja and Cheran. While the veteran is known for ÂMudhal MariyadhaiÂ, Â16 VayathinilaÂ, ÂKizhakku Cheemaiyile and many other movies, the actor-director has presented ÂBharathi KannammaÂ, ÂPorkalam and ÂVetri Kodi KattuÂ.
